There’s something magical about breaking open a piñata like the colors, the excitement, and of course, the candy!
In this post, I’ll walk you through how I create my piñatas from scratch, using simple materials you can find anywhere. It’s easy, fun, and the perfect DIY project for parties!
What You’ll Need
- Cardboard or a balloon base
- Tissue paper or crepe paper
- Scissors and tape
- Glue or hot glue gun
- Candy and small surprises
Step 1: Build the Base
Start by shaping your piñata. you can use cardboard to form cubes, stars, or hearts, or blow up a balloon for a round shape. Tape everything securely so it’s sturdy enough to hold candy.
Step 2: Add The Color
Cut strips of tissue paper and fringe them. Starting from the bottom, glue them layer by layer until your piñata looks full and colorful. Don’t worry about perfection, make it fun!
Step 3: Fill It Up
Cut a small flap and fill your piñata with treats, confetti, and small toys. Seal it back with tape and tissue paper.
Step 4: Show it off
Hang your creation proudly whether it’s part of a birthday backdrop or the star of the show.
